Thomas Louise Davis, age 67 formerly of Clinton passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 after a brief illness at the home of his nephew Ralph and Kim Jones of Lake City.  He was born August 2, 1945 in Devonia, Tennessee to Furden and Rachel Byrge Davis who are deceased. He was of the Baptist Faith. Thomas loved inventing and was a handyman, a jack of all trades, and a friend to all. He was loved by all. He is survived by his brother: A.Y. (Faye) Davis, his sisters, Alice Jones, Jane (John) Lane all of Clinton, Extra Special Friends Kathy Webber, Mary Kathleen Lee and Dot Taylor, all of Clinton, Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Numerous Friends.

Family wishes to thank Dr. Salaita and the UT Medical Center for their care and compassion.  They would also like to thank UT Hospice for their excellent care, and to the caregivers Nephew Ralph Jones and Wife Kim for the wonderful care they provided to him.

Interment: Friends and Family will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Hatmaker Funeral Home to go in procession to the Oak Grove Cemetery for a 1:00p.m. burial and graveside service.

Lucille Younker, age 87 passed away peacefully on January 23, 2013. She was born on February 20, 1925 in Lake City (Coal Creek) to Luke and Bertha (Hatmaker) Stansberry.  She always proudly told about working in the “Secret City”, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where she participated in the making of the Atomic Bomb. She married her first husband, Andrew Foust and they moved to Toledo, Ohio where she remained the rest of her life.  After Andrew’s death, she married Edward Younker and became a stepmother and a step grandmother. In addition to her parents, Lucille is preceded in death by her sister Mildred Shingledecker, and her son, Sam Foust.

Mr. Raymond L. Adcock, age 80 of LaFollette passed away Monday, January 28, 2013. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of VFW in West Carrollton, OH. Preceded in death by parents, Elias Adcock and Willie White Adcock, brothers, Calvin (Bus) Adcock and Jim Adcock, sister, Mary Teague, sisters-in-law, Alma Jean Adcock and Emma Sue Adcock, brother-in-law, Quinton Teague.

Reynolds, age 89 of LaFollette passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at LaFollette Health & Rehab Center.  She attended the LaFollette Church of God.  Preceded in death by husband, James Reynolds, parents, William Harrison Ayers and Nancy Bell Clepper Ayers, brother, Thomas Lee Ayers, sister, Annie Ayers Reynolds, and Janie Ayers Tidwell.

Survivors:  Brother, Woodrow Ayers of Georgia and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Marilyn Doris Emmons Prim, 72, retired secretary for the State of Tennessee Fire Marshall’s office, died Monday at her residence in Lynnville.   A graveside service for Mrs. Prim will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Campbell Memorial Gardens in LaFollette.   The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia and Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Martin-Wilson Funeral Home in LaFollette.

Charlene Hawkins

Charlene Hawkins, age 78 of Lake City passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at her residence. She was born on April 26, 1934 in Anderson County, TN to the late Charlie and Lillie Foust McCoy .She was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Charlene is preceded in death by her husband Bobby Ray Hawkins, her sister, Ethel Blanc, her brothers: Leonard McCoy, Joe McCoy, and Tom Lee McCoy, her half sister, Retha Phillips, and her half brother, Glen Foust.

Mary Lillian Armes Smithers

Mary Lillian Armes Smithers of LaFollette passed away Saturday January 26, 2013. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro. Mary is preceded in death by parents, Virgil and Lucinda Armes and sister, Sally White.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Edward Smithers.  Sons and daughters in law, Mike and Marie Smithers and Jeff and Lois Ann Smithers.  Grandchildren, Amy Smithers Blankenship (Brent), Emily Smithers Raulston (Andrew), Molly Smithers Starbird (Steven), Jake Smithers and Abbey Smithers. Great grand daughter, Victoria Blankenship. Siblings,  Rhoda Dagley, Lydia Hatmaker, Loretta Woods, Virgil Armes, Deana Parks, and Freddy Armes.

Ruby Hazel Childress passed away, January 25, 2012 at Morrison Woods in Muncie, IN at the age of 97. Ruby is formally from LaFollette, TN., where she lived until Nov. 2007 and moved to Muncie, IN to live with her daughter.

Ruby was born in Claiborne County, TN. May 25, 1915, the daughter of Ed and Hettie Yoakum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold G. Childress, who passed away in March, 1966. Her parents, Ed and Hettie Yoakum, three sisters and two brothers.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Alice M. Littell, husband David, Muncie, IN. Granddaughters, Lee Ann Brown, husband Brad, Pendleton, IN., Lisa Fullman, Muncie, IN. great granddaughters, Devan Crabtree, Brett Fullman, and step granddaughter, Kelsey Brown, great great granddaughter, Lyllian Kay Crabtree, and Kenzie Brown. Sister in law, Imojean Childress Morris of Dandridge, TN. Several nieces and nephews, a special niece, Helen Ann McCarron in Sacramento, CA.

Ruby retired from Imperial Reading Mfg. Company in LaFollette, TN after 41 years of employment along with help maintaining the family farm. She was a faithful member of the Well Spring Methodist Church, Methodist Women, and sang in the church choir. She belonged to the TN Association for Family and Community Education, (UT/Extension) and one year was voted Woman of the Year. She served a three year term as 1st Alternate on the Community Committee of the USDA Farm Service Agency of Campbell County. She served many years as a Salvation Army volunteer, and nursing facility visitation.

Ruby was dearly loved and a joy to all who knew her. She was also known for her famous peanut butter roll candy, peanut butter fudge, and old fashion stack cakes. She loved raising a garden and summer canning.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 1, 10:00 AM at Walters Funeral Home in LaFollette followed by the Service at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at the Yoakum Cemetery in Claiborne County, TN. Condy Seiber, age 86, of LaFollette passed away Saturday January 26, 2013. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother that loved spending time with his family and taking care of his animals, he loved being outdoors and farming.

William “Moe” Moses, age 74, from Caryville passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013. He was a very loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, he loved painting murals and playing the guitar.

Elma Botts, age 89, of Louisville, KY passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Christopher East Nursing Home in Louisville. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, & friend. Elma was a very kind-hearted person who was loved by everyone she met and was often called an “angel on earth.”

She was preceded in death by her parents Dennie & Bertha (King) Bridges, husband Oscar Botts, son Jerry Botts, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her son Rick Botts & wife Chery of Louisville, daughters Earlene Taylor & husband Bob and Elsie Lobb & husband Dean all of Louisville, 1 brother, 2 sisters, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Robert “Bobby” Scott Guy, age 56, of LaFollette passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. He was a very loving husband of 37 years, father, grandfather, & brother who enjoyed spending time with his family, playing music, especially the drums & guitar with friends, painting & drawing, and showing his granddaughter how to paint & draw. 

He was preceded in death by his parents General Douglas & Mary Elizabeth (Hunley) Guy.

William “Billy” Lynn Hope, age 56, of LaFollette passed away on Monday, January 21st, 2013 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. He was a loving husband of 25 years as well as a wonderful father, grandfather, son, & brother that enjoyed spending time with his family who was his life. He enjoyed communicating with his friends on his CB radio as “RC”. He was a dedicated employee of OG Hughes for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his father William N. Hope and infant grandson Logan.

He is survived by his mother Evelyn (McDeerman) Hope of LaFollette, wife Brenda Hope of LaFollette, daughter Katie Hope Adkins of LaFollette, brothers Wayne & wife Brenda of Kingston, Mark & wife Debbie, and Brent & wife Angie all of Jacksboro, grandchildren Elizabeth “Libby” and Cody, several nieces & nephews, and a host of other family & friends.

Ruby (Buttram) Paul Green took the hand of sweet Jesus on Friday, January 18, 2013 to be reunited in Heaven with her loved ones who have gone before her.

Ruby was born on August 6, 1928 in Scott County Tennessee to Fred and Rebecca (Carson) Buttram and was the oldest of their ten children.

She is preceeded in death by her parents; husband and father of her children Hoyle Paul and Raymond Green. Infant son: Eddie Paul; Sisters: Princess Lowe and Althia Yancey and Brothers: Denzil Buttram and DJ Buttram. Grandchildren: Tammy Cross, Derrick Paul and Jimmy Webb: Sons-in-law: Leroy Sexton and Franklin Wallace.

Ruby is survived by her children who were the joy of her life: Ronnie Paul and wife Kathy, of Jacksonville, FL: Nella Faye Cross and husband Maynard of Oneida: Patricia Wallace of Caryville; Doris Jean Kennedy and husband Elbert of Lake City: Eugene Paul and wife Lillian of the Paint Rock community; Patsy Evans and husband Bill of Knoxville and Wanda Sexton of the Paint Rock community.

Victor Joey Cecil, age 49, of Lake City passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013. He was a member of Charity Worship. He loved God & his family very much, especially his daughters & grandchildren. Victor had a great sense of humor, was a very hard worker, an honest person who always put others before himself, had a brilliant mind, & was very inspirational. 

He was preceded in death by his father Tony Cecil.

Elma Botts, age 89, of Louisville, KY passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Christopher East Nursing Home in Louisville. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, & friend. Elma was a very kind-hearted person who was loved by everyone she met and was often called an “angel on earth.” 

She was preceded in death by her parents Dennie & Bertha (King) Bridges, husband Oscar Botts, son Jerry Botts, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters. 

She is survived by her son Rick Botts & wife Chery of Louisville, daughters Earlene Taylor & husband Bob and Elsie Lobb & husband Dean all of Louisville, 1 brother, 2 sisters, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013 from 1:00 – 7:00 pm in the Martin Wilson Chapel. Funeral service will be on Thursday, January 24th at 12:00 noon with Rev Harold Norman officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Stanfield Cemetery.

Geneva Bullock age 81 of London, KY passed away Wednesday January 16, 2013 at her home. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist church, Geneva was a loving wife of 61 years that enjoyed taking care of her husband Tom and her cats and dogs. 

Preceded in death by Parents: Robert and Nellie Ward Wilson. Brother: Pearly Wilson. Sisters: Rose Marie SandersG, Bertie Lee Collins and Imogene Wilson.

Charles Edward Lumpkins, age 68, of Jacksboro passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Cumberland Village. He enjoyed hunting, watching old movies, and loved his family very much.

Mrs. Evelyn Stoppelbein, of LaFollette, wife of the late Vivian Stoppelbein, entered into rest Thursday, January 10, 2013.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Gary DeMore and the Reverend Ronnie Arnold officiating.

Mrs. Stoppelbein, a native of Charleston, SC, had previously made Augusta her home and most recently lived with her son in LaFollette, TN, where she was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred Waldron. She was a homemaker and a former member of St. John United Methodist Church where she had been active in United Methodist Women and had served as past President. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca V. Stoppelbein; as well as a brother, Arthur Waldron; and sister, Mildred Inabinet.

Those surviving her include her sons and daughters-in-law, N. Wayne and Jan Stoppelbein, Hephzibah; Gene and Kay Stoppelbein, LaFollette, TN; brother, Robert Waldron, Nevada; grandchildren, 1LT Scott Reaves Stoppelbein, Matthew & Jenna Matson, Jenny Matson; and two great grandsons, Lucas Harper and Matthew W. Matson, Jr.

Melanie Ann Disney Hill, age 47 of Lake City, left this world on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center of Knoxville. She was born December 10, 1965 in Hammond, Indiana to Paul James and Eva Vowell Disney.  Melanie was a member of the Guiding Star Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, her dog, Obe, gospel and country music, and listening to preaching on tv. Melanie had many friends and loved them all.  She had a kind, loving, and giving heart. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. Melanie is preceded in death by her father, Paul James Disney, and her sister, Donna Daugherty.

David Franklin Bratcher, age 69, of LaFollette passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at LaFollette Medical Center. He was a very loving father and husband who loved music, playing guitar & piano, painting, playing golf, & fishing.

Clinton Clay Ward, better known as Clay, age 71 of Clinton, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born on May 20, 1941 to the late Haskell and Elizabeth Braden Ward.  Clay was a member of the Shultz Hollow Baptist Church. He enjoyed four-wheeling, playing bingo, and spending time with his kids, and his grandkids. In addition to his parents, Clay is preceded in death by his brothers: Earnest and Virgil Ward, and his sisters: Bertha Jones, and Alice Fugate.

Raymond Clyde King, age 61, of LaFollette passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013. He was a member of Grace Missionary Church. He was a very loving husband of 43 years and served in the United States Marine Corps. He loved his country, animals, and spending time with his family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul & Edna (Marlow) King.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Martin Wilson Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev Sam White officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery.
