Mary Ruth Wade, age 75 of Briceville, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the North Regional Medical Center of Knoxville. She was born on October 19, 1937 to the late Rev. Charlie and Mable Kelley Miles. She was a member of the Briceville Church of God. She enjoyed puzzle books, cooking, gardening, canning, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grand kids. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Babcock, her brother Charles Miles Jr., her sisters; Pat Lindsay and Faye Saldana, and her son-in-law, Joe Seiber.

Mr. Hugh L. Brown, age 81 of LaFollette passed away, Thursday, January 3, 2013, at LaFollette Medical Center. He was of the Baptist Faith, a retired auto worker from Ford Motor Company, and a U. S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Wardell “Peggy” Brown on February 2, 2008, parents, George L. Brown and Mary Elizabeth Moffette Brown, sister, Juanita Riggsbee, brother, Cletus Brown.
Survivors: Sisters, LaFrona Christopher of Clinton, TN, Mary Rogers of Pensacola, FL, Maude Sheets of Mesa, AZ, and Elizabeth Mongar of LaFollette; A host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all, especially by John and Debbie Mongar, Miranda, Rebecca, and Wesley.
Funeral services Sunday 8 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Keith Mongar officiating. Hattie Elizabeth Davis age 87, of LaFollette passed away on December 31, 2012. She was a member of Forks Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Davis enjoyed sewing, fishing, reading, and listening to gospel tapes, she loved her family very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Alvis Davis. Parents: Swepson and Nannie Miller Sutton. Brothers: Hosea Sutton, Bill Sutton and Charles Sutton. Sister: Ailene Sutton.
She is survived by sons: Jimmy Sutton and Charles A. Davis both of LaFollette. Daughters: Reita Royer of LaFollette, Astria Richardson and husband Ray of LaFollette and Lassie Steakley and husband Jimmy of Florida. 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 8 PM Wednesday January 2, 2013 from 6 until 8 PM in Martin Wilson Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Alvis Richardson and Rev. Leroy Braden officiating. Interment will be 1 PM Thursday January 3, 2013 in Davis Chapel Cemetery.

Nell Powers Wright died Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Mrs. Wright was a Campbell County school teacher for 29 years where she taught all elementary school grades. She was born in Jacksboro, Tennessee on March 20, 1925 to Larry Carson Powers and Mary Agnes Clotfelter Powers. After graduating from Central High School in Jacksboro she travelled to New York City where she worked as a model with the John Robert Powers agency for a short time before returning to Tennessee to attend East Tennessee State University. She married Dudley Victor Wright of LaFollette in 1945 and received a B.S. degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 1958. Mrs. Wright was a charter member of the Knoxville Chapter of Daughters of the Nile, an international fraternal organization that serves as a social and charitable organization and works to raise money for the Shriners Hospital for children. She was a member of the East TN Education Association, National Education Association, and the First Baptist Church of LaFollette. She lived in Jacksboro and LaFollette for 78 years before moving to Knoxville in 2002 to be near her daughter. For the past 3 1/2 years, she was a resident of the Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville.
Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her sister June Powers Bivens. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Wright Cottrell and husband Brad, two grandchildren Jason Cottrell and wife Angela and Suzanne Cottrell Christensen and husband Jeff, four great grandchildren Katie, Kenzie, Jake, and Olivia Cottrell all of Knoxville, two nephews David and Eric Bivens of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and brother William Barton Powers of Limestone, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 6, 2012 at Cross-Smith Funeral Home in LaFollette with funeral services following at 2:00 pm in the Cross-Smith Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Duane Mills officiating. Interment will be at Jacksboro Cemetery following the service.

Beatrice L. Nelson ,age 90 of LaFollette passed away on Thursday December 27, 2012. She was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church. Mrs. Nelson was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother that loved having her family around her, especially her grandchildren, she always thought more of others than she did herself. She enjoyed working in her garden and flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Henry Nelson Jr. Sons: Virgil Eugene White, Foster Nelson and( infant) Wayne Boshears. Parents: Alfred and Louisa Berry White. Brothers: Foster, Clarence and Walter White. Sister: Orabelle Miller

Mr. James Barclay “J.B.” Wright age 81 of LaFollette, TN, originally from Glade Springs, VA passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at LaFollette Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Wright was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean War, a member of LaFollette United Methodist Church, and was Administrator of LaFollette Hospital for 20 plus years. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play golf. Preceded in death by parents, Thomas Roy Wright Sr. and Katherine Taylor Wright; Sister, Jane Sandefur; Brothers, Paul and T.R. Wright.

Lewis Tackett, age 66 of Lake City, Tennessee, received his summons to appear in the presence of His most High God on December 27, 2012. He was born on April 25, 1946 in Anderson County to the late Conda and Mary Alice Duncan Tackett. Awaiting him there was his beloved daughter, LeeAnn, who preceded him in death in 1988. Lewis was a chairman of the deacon board and an active member and Sunday school teacher for many years at Fratersville Baptist Church. He had a special love for the church and its congregation. Lewis was an avid bible reader who enjoyed antique cars, and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents and daughter, Lewis is preceded in death by his brothers: Arvil, Clarence, and Carl Tackett, his brothers-in-law: Goldman Kennedy, Gene Pyles, Aaron Duncan, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Dewey and Arthorine Wilson.

Mrs. Mary Marie Ivey Leach formerly of Speedwell, born May 22, 1931, went to be with the Lord December 26, 2012. She was preceded in death by husband of 47 years, Hubert Leach, and son, Michael; parents, Mack and Eliza Ivey; brothers, Clyde, Vernon, James, Porter, Bill, Everette, and Fred; sisters, Gertie and Gladys. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Marie lived her entire life in the Flat Hollow Community of Campbell County. Most recently, she enjoyed life living near her son at Patriot Park Assisted Living in Oak Ridge.
She is survived by beloved son, Julis and wife Cindy; granddaughters, Shannon Leach and Fiancé Warren Amos, Julie Leach Wooten and husband Dusty, their children, Ethan, Tyler, Logan, and Ben; grandsons, Jordan Young and Daniel Leach; sister, Edith Walden, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Louis B. Struckman, age 87, recently of Dillsboro, Indiana, and long-time resident of Moores Hill, Indiana, passed away December 27, 2012 at one of his daughter’s homes in Tennessee. He worked at Aurora Casket Company 11 years and Stedman Foundry in Aurora for 33 years. Born and raised in Aurora, he would have graduated in 1945, but instead enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17. As a turret ball gunner, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and a Gold Star in lieu of a second Distinguished Flying Cross, for his bravery in the Pacific Fifth Fleet. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Leona; daughters Roberta and husband J.W. Smith of Pontotoc, Mississippi; Patricia and husband Rick Elliott of Andersonville, Tennessee; Connie and husband Martin Kraus of San Diego, California, along with 9 grandchildren , several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded by all 8 siblings and parents, Florence (nee Goodpaster) and Frank Struckman. Visitation will be at the Aurora Baptist Church, 600 Daugherty Road, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with graveside services immediately after at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora. Dorothy Faye Snodderly Taylor, age 77 of Powell, passed away at her nieces residence on Tuesday, December 25, 2012. She was born January 18, 1935 in Blue Diamond, KY to the late Harvey and Dinah Pratt Snodderly. Dorothy attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, husband, Clyde E. “Dink” Taylor; grandparents, Granny and Pap Snodderly; sisters, Arthorine McDaniels Wilson and Wilma Snodderly Miles; nephew, M. Steve Miles; niece, Leanna Tackett.

She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Marie lived her entire life in the Flat Hollow Community of Campbell County. Most recently, she enjoyed life living near her son at Patriot Park Assisted Living in Oak Ridge.
She is survived by beloved son, Julis and wife Cindy; granddaughters, Shannon Leach and Fiancé Warren Amos, Julie Leach Wooten and husband Dusty, their children, Ethan, Tyler, Logan, and Ben; grandsons, Jordan Young and Daniel Leach; sister, Edith Walden, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Savannah.
Funeral Services Friday 7 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Jack Goins officiating. Family and friends will meet Saturday 10 A.M. at Leach Cemetery for graveside services and interment. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 P.M. Friday before funeral services. Marie loved helping others and in keeping with her desire for helping others, the family would like to honor her by requesting that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her memory to: Campbell County Cancer Association, P.O. Shirley E. Walker Wilson age 77 of Jacksboro passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Preceded in death by parents, John Leonard Walker and Issa Pearl Patterson Walker, many sisters, a brother, and Doug Ellison, and Steve Ellison. She was a member of East Jacksboro Baptist Church.
Survivors: Four Children, Angela Taylor of LaFollette, Cindy Ford of Kodak, Eddie Ellison of Wisconsin, and Robin Russell of Caryville; Five Grandchildren, Jordan Ellison, Jason Ellison, Jennifer Smith, Lindsay Taylor, and Lauren Taylor; Two Great-grandchildren, Shelby Smith and Bailey Smith; Special nieces, Mrs. Gail Ray of Orlando, FL, Mary Howard of Phoenix, AZ, Sandra Boguth of Michigan; Three Special Friends, A.V. Ray Delno Petree, age 68, of LaFollette, passed away, Tuesday, December 25, 2012, after a hard battle with lung cancer. He had a Master’s Degree in Administration and served as Home Health Hospice Administrator in Somerset, Ky, and served eight years as Home Health Administrator in Springfield, Ohio. He worked as an interim Administrator at Beach Tree Manor in Jellico before he became too sick to work. He was also a school teacher, taught Sunday School and had served as a deacon.
Ray loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed working with people and always tried to be a peacemaker. His family will always feel the loss and have a hole in their heart from not having him in their lives.
Preceded in death by parents, Lee & Edith Petree; brother, Glen.

Betty Jean Spradlin Leach age 80 of Speedwell went Home on December 22, 2012 on her and dad‘s 49th wedding anniversary! Mother’s passions in life were hard work, loving and caring for her children and husband, as well as her siblings, nieces and nephews. Her heart was happiest on a piano stool singing and playing old time gospel music by the “Do-Re-Mi’s. Her knowledge and talent of “shaped-note” music was unsurpassed. Mother was the 13th child of 13 children. She was saved Nov. 3, 1944 and was a lifelong member of Duff Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving as pianist, Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher.
Mother was preceded in death by husband: Horace Lee Leach. Parents: Jim and Sarah Ann Sharp Spradlin. 7 brothers: Emmett, Edgar, Elmer, Dee, Brooks, James Jr and Jess Spradlin. 4 sisters: Della Dupuy, Novella Spradlin, Ada Elliott, Pauline Smiddy Smith.
She is survived by her son, Pastor Roger Lee Leach and wife Amy of Speedwell. Daughter, Lana Kay Leach Russell and husband Willard (Bill) Russell Jr. of Tazewell. Grandchildren: Caleb, Ethan and Hannah Leach of Speedwell. Mary Faith and Sherman McKinley Russell of Tazewell. Sister: Ruby Shoffner of Fairborn, OH. Brother in law, George Myers. Sister in law, Flossie Spradlin. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the extraordinarily compassionate staff of Claiborne County Nursing Home as well as the kindness shown by each caregiver.
Visitation will be 6 until 8 PM Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in Martin Wilson Chapel with the service to follow at 8 PM with Rev. Don Allen and Pastor Roger Leach officiating. Interment will be 2 PM Thursday December 27, 2012 in Leach Cemetery. Emma Leeotta Cox McGhee, age 92 of Jacksboro went home to be with the Lord on Sat, Dec. 22, 2012 Surrounded by her loving family and dear friends Rev. Charles Goins and Mark Moore.
Emma was Born to Dan and Texas Mowell Cox on Auguest 28, 1920 in Jacksboro where she resided her lifetime. Emma was the oldest charter member of Cumberland View Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her beloved ones: Parents, Dan and Texas Cox; Grand- parents: Jerry and Martha Vinsant Cox, James and Celia Miller Mowell; dear and only Sister Jewel Dean Cox; Husband , Lee E. McGhee, beloved only Son, Edward L. McGhee.
Survivors are: Daughter: Novella and beloved Son In Law, Bobby Madison, very Special Grand-Daughter: Kim Rains, Special Grandsons, Nathan and Brad Rains, Special Grand-daughters Tammy Inman and husband Larry, Edwina Ogg and husband David, Melissa Roberts and husband Brent, Pamela Longmire; Special Great-Grandsons, Daniel and Austin Rains; Twelve great-great Grandchildren, nine great- Grandchildren.
Emma retired from Imperial Reading after 35 years. She enjoyed working very much and made many lifetime friends there.
After retiring she helped care for her parents. She loved spending time with her Loving family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She enjoyed watching channel 12 Gospel Telecast.
Emma put all her hope, trust and faith in God. She expressed her desires to go home and be with Jesus many times.
Family will receive of friends on Wed, Dec. 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Funeral service at 8:00 PM at Martin Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clarence Duncan, Rev. Charles Goins, and Rev.
