Michael Lee Minton, age 59, of LaFollette passed away Monday, July 16, 2012. Member of East LaFollette Baptist Church. Owner of Minton’s Tires & Service Center and LaFollette Fitness Center. Preceded in death by parents, Arthur & Mary Arnold Minton; brother, Denny Minton. Survivors: Wife: Pamela (Susie) Jones Minton Brothers: Jimmy Ray Minton & wife Janet Jerry Minton Ricky Minton & wife Bridgette, all of LaFollette Mother-in-law: Marjorie Jones Moore & husband Roy Sisters-in-law: Janice Russell & Ronnie Aileen Goins Carolyn & Rusty Gillum Brother-in-law: Gary Jones & wife Dee Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends and customers that he loved very much. Millard Phillips, age 82, of Lake City, passed away July 17, 2012 at the LaFollette Medical Center. He was born on May 9, 1929 in Campbell County to the late Frank and Maggie Daugherty Phillips. Millard enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports and telling tall tales. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Medie Phillips, son Eddie Phillips, brother Bobby Phillips, and sisters, Elizabeth Taylor, Cressie Smith, and Bessie Carroll, and two great grandsons. Wanda Lay Parker, 90 of Lithia Springs, GA, formerly of LaFollette, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Douglasville, GA. She has been a long time member of Alder Springs Baptist Church, and retired from Imperial Reading Corp. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Sally Lay, husband Earnest Parker, and several sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her daughter Janet Lovett and husband Mose of Lithia Springs, GA; son Eugene Parker and wife Peggy of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren Felicia Evett and husband Wes of Douglasville, GA; Bryan Parker and wife Karen of La Porte, TX; three great-grandchildren Lillian Evett of Douglasville, GA; Aaron Parker and Addisyn Parker of La Porte, TX; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20 with funeral service to follow at Walters Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Kenneth Hennesy officiating. Interment will be Saturday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at Campbell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: American Heart Association, P.O. Box 672648, Marietta, GA 30006.
