Cordis Gilbert Byrge, age 76 of Devonia, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born March 29, 1936 in Anderson County to the late Eli and Willie Marie Reynolds Byrge. Cordis attended Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to music, working in the garden and on cars. He also enjoyed traveling with his cousin and best friend, James West and spending time with family and friends. In addition to parents he is preceded in death by, sister; Mary Daugherty.

John Thomas “Tom” Byrge, age 78 of Lake City, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born July 18, 1934 in Campbell County to the late Everette and Ruby Phillips Byrge. Tom was a Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Longfield Baptist Church. Tom enjoyed fishing and watching Tennessee football and basketball. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife; Louise Sharp Byrge, son; John “Anthony” Byrge, brothers; Glen, Charles, and Earnest Byrge, sisters; Susie Norman and Clara Hammer.

Kenneth L Hatmaker, age 71, of LaFollette born to the late Pearley Lee Hatmaker and the late Pearl May Eastridge Hatmaker on March 31, 1941 in Tackett Creek passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012. Kenneth was a coal miner for 35 plus years. He loved to work on cars and flea-marketing. He loved being with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers R.L. Hatmaker and Jerry Hatmaker, brother-in-law Elmer Shoupe, and grandson William Osbourne.

Miss Mary Evelyn Gross, age 87 of LaFollette, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, after a brief illness with cancer. Miss Gross was preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles C. and LaFronia Gross, brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Agnes Gross. Mary Evelyn was a devoted member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church for over 70 years, a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, a Campbell County educator for 42 years, serving as principal at Grantsboro School, and also teaching at College Hill School. A very special thank you to the dedicated staff of Methodist Medical Center who cared for Mary Evelyn.

Shirley Jean Wilson Poteet, 72, of Lafollette, Tennessee, passed away on October 15, 2012 at home. Shirley had been a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of LaFollette, where she served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher, Awana leader and longtime choir member. Shirley loved her church and church family.
Shirley was born January 19, 1940 in Speedwell, TN. She attended Powell Valley High School and Lincoln Memorial University. When she and her husband, Arnold Poteet were married they moved to Lafollette. Shirley worked at Ben Rogers Insurance Agency for over 40 yrs.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Clay Wilson; her sisters, Fayetta Wilson and Susie Aileen Wilson Davis.
Survivors include: loving husband of 53 years, Arnold Poteet; daughter Donna Renee Robinson and husband Michael of Jacksboro, son Anthony Wayne Poteet and wife Angie of LaFollette, much loved grandsons, Dustin May and wife Amanda of Clinton, Russell May of Oak Ridge, Chris Poteet of Lafollette and Corey Poteet of Lafollette; great-grandchildren Sydney and Corryn May; mother, Minnie Bean Wilson of Lafollette sister, Betty Lucretia Wilson Parks of Knoxville and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Louise Hughes Ayers age 81 of LaFollette passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at LaFollette Medical Center. She was retired from Imperial Reading Corp. She was of the Baptist Faith. Preceded in death by husband, George M. Ayers in April 1991, daughter, Cathy Ayers, parents, Jay Hugh Hughes and Nelle McGuire Hughes, sister, Edith Hunley, brother, Jack Hughes, son-in-law, Harold Baird.
Survivors: Two Daughters, Gayenelle Baird of LaFollette, and Ginger Wishoun and husband Robert, of Jacksboro; Two grandsons, Ross Hill of LaFollette, and Casey Hill of West Virginia; Great-granddaughter, Kymbree Hill of West Virginia. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sammy S.H. Roach, age 72 of Clinton, TN passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at his residence. Sammy was a member of Charity Baptist Church in South Clinton. He loved his church family and enjoyed fishing. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Nedas & Irene Roach; wife Joyce Roach; brothers, Albert Roach and Stanley Roach Sr.
He is survived by brothers, Bill Roach of Harriman, TN; Lylburn Roach & wife Renee of Tampa, FL; Gene Roach & wife Jeanie of Clinton, TN; sisters, Jane Duncan & husband Clarence of Jacksboro, TN and Jessie Stooksbury & husband Dallas of Clinton, TN. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives and friends.

Georgia Helen Sisson, age 81 of LaFollette passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at LaFollette Medical Center. She was a Native American and retired from Imperial Reading Corporation. She loved crafts, flowers, politics, and was very active in the Democrat Party. Preceded in death by parents, Lonnie and Lucille Hamilton Sisson, brother, Eddie Sisson and sister, Polly Sisson.

MRS. HELEN MARGARET CARR SAULSBERRY, age 93, of White Rock, SC, formerly of LaFollette, TN passed away on September 30, at the Heritage at Lowman Lutheran Homes of South Carolina where she had resided since June, 2011. She had been a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of LaFollette since 1933, where she had served in many capacities including teaching Sunday school from l951-l996, first woman trustee, WMU director, and choir member. She loved her church. She also held leadership positions in earlier years in community organizations including the Democratic Women’s Club, the LaFollette Garden Club, and the West LaFollette PTO. She was a 1939 graduate of the University of Tennessee and a loyal sports fan of UT. She became a member of the Order of the Shield of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority in 1986 as a 50 year member and was recognized in 2011 as a 75 year member. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred W. Saulsberry in 1965, her parents Edwin and Mabel Wynn Carr, brother Edwin A. (Sonny) Carr, granddaughter Laura Lane Charton, and great-grandson Luke Charton.
Survivors are loving daughter Sylvia Charton and husband Pete of Irmo, SC; much loved grandchildren, Ross Charton of Mountain Top, PA , Katie Manning and husband Eric of Columbia, SC, and Kristi Turner and husband Josh of Knoxville, TN; great-grandchildren Sydney and Natalie Charton and William and Henry Manning; loving sister-in-law Mary Pat Carr; nieces Mary Dodge, Sarah Kirkpatrick, and Nancy Worthen; nephew Alvis Carr.
